What’s Baking (week of Feb 11th, 2013)

Despite the market cancellation, our lasagna was such a big hit that we decided to make more so that we could actually bring it to the market, rather than selling it all from our kitchen. In addition to Leeseteffy’s recipe of 25 years, we are also making a meat version that is Caroleen’s favorite. Both have a bechamel as well as a red sauce. It comes  fresh frozen so you can stock up. Pairs well with the fresh garden greens and wine from one of the Somerville Winter market vendors!

If this menu looks familiar its because it is last week’s menu which we never baked. Don’t forget to try our sweet cheese brioche with Deborah’s Kitchen’s new Cherry preserves–super yummy! :

market cancelled, special dates for pick up

The weather gods have spoken and they say lots of snow. For those of you ordering or wanting the lasagna, you can pick it up in Harvard Sq today during the day or tonight or tomorrow in Porter Sq if you email, text or call to let us know (see web for contact details.)  You can also pick up pot pies at that time, but again you must let us know (we don’t keep things in both places so there is some transferring that has to be done!)

Also, we will  be making our Valentine’s cookies Weds morning  for pick up on Weds, Feb 13th at our kitchen in Harvard Sq during the day, or that night in Porter Sq. BY PRE ORDER ONLY. Please preorder by Monday night. If you already placed an order for cookies for this weekend, no need to preorder again, but if you don’t want to pick up on Weds, please let us know! We are making only the number of cookies that are pre-orderd and then otherwise will make them again later in the week for the saturday market.

Valentine’s Day is coming up and so of course, we are offering heart shaped cookies for you to give to all your sweethearts (including yourself!) Price hikes on Valentines Day got you down? Try staying home and serving your loved ones our yummy lasagna–très romantique! Surprise, we are baking this week after all. We will be at the Somerville Winter Farmer’s Market, but not in our regular place. Instead we will be in the hallway outside of the main room–you can’t miss us , we’ll be the ones charging everyone 1 platinum coin to get by us like  trade route bandits. (We are gunless but can swing a mean piece of chocolate cake, so don’t try to sneak by without stopping.)

We are doing a light bake because the space is so much smaller, so if you really want something on the menu, please preorder.
