Update re Covid-19 practices

In light of the strong admonishment for social distancing, we’ve decided to go ahead and institute the practice of curbside delivery starting Weds, March 18th for those who want it. For this to work, you must get your order in at least 24 hours prior, AND pay the online invoice we will send you the day before you want to pick up. We are short staffed and can only pack orders in the morning. We can’t do it on the fly. This is particularly important for Sat, when we will have the ever popular DONUTS! Those are usually ready just before we open, so we need to know ahead of time which we need to pack and get ready for quick curbside delivery.

We don’t usually have issues with overcrowding in the bakery and if we have a line  we typically keep our door open so people can spread out, but we will remind customers to stay 4 or more feet away from the next customer if there is a line.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading and I found a Science article that said experts have been studying China to glean what they can about Covid-19. They found that 99+% of people with Covid-19 in China have a fever. A Covid-19 fever is 102 or more typically 104+. Over 50% of patients had dry cough and sore muscles. 1/3 of patients had pressure in chest/ breathing issues, but those usually occurred a number of days later. A fever that spikes quickly seems to be the most characteristic trait, from what experts have found so far in China. The other interesting item mentioned in this article was that there is only ONE documented case of an asymptomatic Covid-19 carrier who caused others to get sick. A 20 year old woman studying in Wuhan who went home to another city/village. With 5 family members she went to visit someone in the hospital (not related to Covid-19), and two days later two of family members had fevers. The 20 year old tested negative for Covid-19. But then a few days later the other 3 family members got fever and respiratory problems and all tested positive, including the 20 year old who remained asymptomatic. So the experts presume she was the carrier because she was only one in family with connection to Wuhan. For some reason, this made me feel better.  I like information as it makes me feel like someone (clearly not the Federal Govt) has a handle on this crisis, so just passing on the information I found.

Stay safe!
