What’s New this Week!

Passover and Easter Orders.

Passover is already here and many of you bought Strawberry Sponge cake, coconut macarons and other Passover friendly desserts. We will have these items in store and by preorder thru Sat. Strawberry Sponge cakes should be preordered!

Easter is a week from today, so please get your orders in! We have our inflation busting Easter Baskets, and a whole lot of special foods for Easter. Our Easter cakes will cheer up even the most depressed person. We have holiday favorites like our French Apple Cake, which we only make on holidays, AND which freeze well, if you love this cake. There’s my personal favorite, Strawberry-Rhubarb pie.  Blackberry-Blueberry Buckle. Our adorably decorated Sugar Easter Cookies and don’t forget Zimstern cookies in the shape of a decorated easter eggs. And so much more. We will be fully stocked all week, but if you really want something in particular, like one of the Easter cakes, please preorder!

A lot of you have already taken advantage of  this savings. Our cash sales tripled this week! For every credit card we run we are charged between 2.75-3.45% of the total order.  This money goes to large corporations, so we thought, why not pass this savings on to our customers??? Even if you preorder and have to pay online, just let us know when you come to get your order that you want to pay in cash, and we will refund your credit card payment!  In these trying economic times, let’s make fewer oligarchs and keep more money in ordinary people’s pockets.

Gluten Free Baking Class in France.

Did you know that this class is held in  a tiny peaceful, bucolic medieval village with 500 year old stone houses? How often have you gotten to stay in a 500 year old house?  The village is perched on the top of a 7 km hill, with view of Pic Saint-Loup. Pic Saint-Loup is a prominent wine producing area, known for high quality red and rose wines that are known for their complexity and elegance. We will go wine tasting in Pic Saint Loup on Thursday afternoon.

You’ll have plenty of time to socialize, hike or work on specific recipes you want to perfect before class each day.

The catered meals are made fresh from locally grown and sourced food. We can accommodate all allergies, meat eaters, dairy eaters, non-dairy eaters and vegans.

Leesteffy will be retiring within the next 1.5-2 years, and this may be your only chance  to learn the method and madness of great gluten free baking. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. Just ask any of the students who took the class last time!

We have 3 slots left. Airfare has fallen considerably since last month. Airport is Montpellier (MPL). But Barcelona (BCN) and Marseille (MRS) are options as well, with easy train or bus travel to Montpellier.

Saturday Special  

CINNAMON ROLLS! (We are teaching these in our baking class in France!) These yummy, gooy, cinnamon-y treats are the perfect pick me up. They aren’t easy to make well, gluten free, but we’ve perfected our method over the years. (Sign up for the baking class in France to learn our secrets.) Available with glaze or glaze and maple pecans. Preorder or walk ins.

My other favorite thing is our BAGEL SANDWICHES. I eat one EVERY SAT. Jala is a master at developing awesome sandwich flavors. Come on in. And have a bagel sandwich while you are at it. We have a monthly rooster of rotating sandwich flavors, Dairy, DF and vegan!

Weekly Bread

This week it is Sourdough (Vegan) and Challah (DF). Did you know our  Sourdough Starter is  17 years old? The older the starter the better the flavor. And the more moist the bread.  We will be selling freeze dried starter for those of you who want to learn how to use sourdough (in everything if you believe the posts on Instagram.)  Of course, if you come to our class in France, you will learn how to make both!

Pot Pies!

Pot Pies are available Christmas to Easter.  So that means you have another few weeks to stock up on Pot pies. They come frozen ready to bake.  We have Small (personal) or Medium   (man size or for 2 lighter eaters). They come in Chicken and Veg, Veg and Vegan. All are DF. The difference between Veg and Vegan is the egg in the crust. All chicken is organic free range, and a combo of thigh and breast meat. The veggies, broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, possibly corn, yellow potatoes and sweet potatoes, are all organic.

Deadlines:

Deliveries are WEDS- SAT. This is not “on demand delivery”. If you need an exact time of delivery, please inquire first.
