What’s Baking, Week of April 29th

What’s New this Week!

Mother’s Day Menu is up.

So much deliciousness for you and mom. Understandably, everyone is feeling the anxiety of chaos and craziness in the USA right now, so we planned our menu to focus on a budget friendly celebration. We have an extra small Mom & Me cake which will feed 2-3, and is a terrific way to say I love you. 🥰 If you have a bigger family, we also have a larger size that will feed 4-7+. You can choose chocolate or vanilla cake. Dairy, DF or Vegan. The frosting is vanilla. (Photo is our extra small frosted cake.)

We also have a picnic package, with or without the basket. It contains 2 strawberry shortcakes, 2 scones, 2 flower sugar cookies and one medium quiche. A nice white woven basket with handle is $10 extra.  We will also have Strawberry Sponge, for those of you who love that. All of these things come either dairy or DF. Lastly, we will have a large fresh fruit tart with our house made lemon curd (DF).

Dubai Chocolate Tart

Yeah, we are continuing the Dubai Chocolate craze with our scrumptious Dubai Chocolate Tart. A flakey crust, filled with pistachio cream and our GF fillo, and then topped with dark chocolate. This tart is DF. So far we’ve had bars, donuts and now tarts. What else can we make Dubai Chocolate?

Sourdough Starter

We sold out of our first batch of sourdough starter, but made more yesterday. If you want to join the sourdough craze, this is your opportunity. One of our bakers, Diana, will be doing a test recipe each week based on the crazy suggestions on Instagram and Tic Toc. I’ve even seen someone making a cake with sourdough starter. Stay tuned.

Saturday Special

Soft Pretzels!

These chewy (yes sourdough) pretzels will remind you of the pretzels you ate before going gluten free. We sell them “regular” and with cheddar. They include a dipping sauce. They freeze well.

My other favorite thing is our BAGEL SANDWICHES. I eat one EVERY SAT. Jala is a master at developing awesome sandwich flavors. Come on in. And have a bagel sandwich while you are at it. We have a monthly rooster of rotating sandwich flavors, Dairy, DF and vegan!

Weekly Bread

This week it is Sourdough (Vegan) and Challah. Did you know our  Sourdough Starter is  17 years old? The older the starter the better the flavor. And the more moist the bread.  We will be selling freeze dried starter for those of you who want to learn how to use sourdough (in everything if you believe the posts on Instagram.)  Of course, if you come to our class in France, you will learn how to make both!

Get 3% Off When You Pay in Cash!

It’s great to see so many people paying in cash. While 3% doesn’t sound like a lot of savings, every little bit helps, right? And best of all, you are doing your personal bit to keep money in our collective communities hands, rather than to a billionaire credit card processor.

Gluten Free Baking Class in France.

What are you waiting for? We have a couple more spots. Airfare has fallen to the $700-800 range. Plus to be honest, i’m not holding this class again, despite many people asking if i will. I plan to retire and move on to different adventures by Jan 2027, and a trip like this takes 10 months of planning. And as we’ve seen, so many things can happen in 10 months, including crashing our economy, which makes all my expenses in France higher! So if you want to participate in this unique and once in a life time experience, sign up now. You won’t regret it. But you will regret missing out.

The village is perched on the top of a 7 km hill, with view of Pic Saint-Loup. Pic Saint-Loup is a prominent wine producing area, known for high quality red and rose wines that are known for their complexity and elegance. We will go wine tasting in Pic Saint Loup on Thursday afternoon.

You’ll have plenty of time to socialize, hike or work on specific recipes you want to perfect before class each day.

The catered meals are made fresh from locally grown and sourced food. We can accommodate all allergies, meat eaters, dairy eaters, non-dairy eaters and vegans.

Airport is Montpellier (MPL). But Barcelona (BCN) and Marseille (MRS) are options as well, with easy train or bus travel to Montpellier.

Seasonal Items ending soon.

These include Pot Pies, Chocolate Pecan bars, Ginger Cookies, Bread pudding, Thin Mint cookies, and our seasonal pizza. Stock up if you love these things.
