One more week of February, which to me means Spring is almost here! I’ve already started growing seeds with my indoor grow light system. In a few weeks, when the plants are more than tiny babies, i’ll post some photos of the set up, in case anyone is interested in growing plants from seeds at home. My homemade setup is much cheaper than buying the grow light setups on line. I’m installing a green roof at my house this Spring, so getting ready for that and for all the edible flowers i’ll be growing for the bakery. We really have enjoyed decorating with both fresh and fresh pressed flowers!

This is the last week for the Butternut Squash Pizza so if you love it stock up. This week we will be making a Mushroom, Spinach, and Caramelized onion pizza with smoked gouda (and Mozzarella) or a smoked house made vegan cheese. This is a staff favorite. As soon as we have some made, i’ll put it on the order menu!

We never had time to perfect our Hanamstashen — so sorry about that. But we will continue trialing so that next time it’s a holiday treat, we will be ready to go. It takes time to trial, and you know we only like to sell things that are tasty and authentic and don’t just taste good for Gluten Free.  On that score, Passover is coming up. Please let us know ASAP if there is something special you want us to trial. Otherwise, we will do our old standards.  We are trialing Chocolate Beignets this week as we hope to have them on the Donut menu for March 6th. Those and Old-Fashioned donuts, which we will also trial this week.

The Bread this week is Sourdough (vegan) and Challah (DF).

Tea Bread (DF) is Blackerry with crystallized ginger OR pecans.  Muffins (DF) are Pumpkin, plain or with chocolate chips OR Mixed Berry, plain or with walnuts.

Soup is Butternut Squash or Cream of Spinach. Both are vegan. We’ve packed a lot of spinach into our soup, and i confess, it will make you feel super healthy eating it. It’s my go-to soup at home for healthy eating. If you have a favorite soup you want us to make, email us at info@violettegf.com with your suggestions. Soup’s On until about May.

The Sat special is Sweet and Savory Brioche. They come in a cheese or DF version. They freeze well and can be frozen and popped in microwave directly from freezer for a breakfast treat.
