Support the Small Businesses You Want to Keep

If you want your favorite small businesses to still exist when this current nightmare is over, they need your support now.

I’ll be blunt: January has been an utter financial disaster for us. A few more months like this and we—and many others—won’t survive. If you’re on social media, you’ve probably seen the flood of small businesses asking customers to come in and shop. This isn’t exaggeration or panic. Costs are up across the board, sales are way down, and fixed expenses like rent haven’t adjusted to today’s reality.

I’ve personally chosen a few small businesses I make a point to support. I shop at my local pet supply store even though Chewy is cheaper—because they give me service Chewy never will, and I want them to exist. I have a favorite restaurant I supported both now and through the pandemic for the same reason. And a small specialty food store I do my best to shop at regularly.

This month, customers have been genuinely surprised when I tell them how bad things are. So I’m saying it plainly:

Bagels are now available every Friday by preorder, with limited in-store quantities.

We’ll still have one dedicated Bagel Week each month (just like Donut Thursdays). If demand keeps growing, we may add more days.

📍 Pop-Up Location Search (On Hold—for Now)

This is paused until I’m through chemotherapy—but please keep sending ideas.

What we’re looking for:
A complementary business (market, deli, bakery, etc.) where we can share space and customer bases.
