Next Saturday is Donut Day and i think we have a pretty good line up. Cider Donut, House-made Blackberry jam filed, and Cranberry Glazed. Are we seasonal? Absolutely. Are we organic? Yes! Do we compost, use almost no plastic and recycle. Yes, yes, yes! We are a green business for sure.
If you don’t see me around the bakery in the next few weeks, it’s because i’m pounding the pavement handing out fliers and talking to Cambridge residents about this misguided initiative to remove parking on Mass Ave, being pushed by Jivan, Alanna and Quinton — all three current City Council members. (Why isn’t the city putting public charging stations in every neighborhood — as electric cars are clearly the future?) It is definitely a fight for our livelihood, and the vibrant small business community in Cambridge. Already, my residential neighbors told me one business they patronize on Mass Ave in North Cambridge has told her customers she will soon be out of business as the city moved up the timeline to get rid of parking in North Cambridge to late Oct. If you are a Cambridge resident, we hope you will Vote for: Paul Toner, Joe McGuirk, Denise Simmons, Ilan Levy and Frantz Pierre. All 5 believe that ALL stakeholders should be part of the process: bikers, residents and small businesses. Quinton, Jivan and Alanna, on the other hand, have tried to push this thru in secrecy (very anti democratic) and made public their desire to see a CAR FREE cambridge. This is being pushed by bike activist who don’t even live in Cambridge. We are not against bike safety or safe bike lanes, but believe all stakeholders need to be involved in decision-making –that’s what Democracy is all about. How many of you can ride a bike to go shopping? Exactly the problem. When we met with Alanna she came to the meeting in 3″ heels so we asked her if she road her bike. She said No, but not because of my heels, but because i have to get my kids from day camp. So why does she think this is legitimate, but driving to shop is not? Remember this when you are voting! I myself will NOT be voting for any of the three. Or anyone other than those 5.
