We realize people are feeling overwhelmed, but we need you to help us serve you. When you order, please say if you want curbside, pre-pay window pick up, or Delivery. Otherwise, we will expect that you are coming to the window to pick up and pay. Note, we do not accept SAME DAY orders. Please plan to come to the window if you need same day. We must have any prepaid orders (we send you an invoice to pay online) 48 hours in advance.
If you ask for Delivery, please see our delivery guidelines here. This is NOT On-Demand delivery. We figure out what days we can deliver to you based on our total delivery schedule for the week. If you want On Demand Delivery (ie to you only) please be prepared to pay a hefty delivery fee, as we will have to call our Delivery person in just for this one delivery. He has a minimum daily rate.
So far, we have not covered our cost on Deliveries. So we will need to be strict about minimum orders and delivery fees. We are sorry, if this doesn’t work for some people, but you can always get curbside pick up.
Some people have been a bit confused about tips. Many of our wonderful customers give our staff credit card tips. This has been a custom since we opened 8 years ago. Those tips are shared among the entire store staff. (Cash tips go to person working window.) The Delivery Fee goes toward the hourly rate we pay our delivery person, plus the cost of staffing to do routing, etc for the deliveries. On your delivery bag, there is a slip with Hudson’s, the Delivery man, tipping options. Like all delivery people, he greatly appreciates a tip. We guarantee him a certain minimum tip amount, which we make up if his tips fall short. We pay a livable wage for the Boston area.
It is hard for people to work during this crisis. So think of staff and delivery people if you are able to stay home safely with a pay check. Thank you for listening.
