What’s Baking, Week of April 24th

What’s New this Week!

Sourdough Starter!

We are now selling our sourdough starter!  First, we don’t know anyone else selling 100% GF starter, let alone starter that has had 17 years to mature. Second, many places who sell starter sell it “fresh” which means you only have about 24 hours after receiving it to start  feeding it. Ours is freeze dried! It comes in a single start package with instructions on how to start it. The good news is you can start it at your own convenience. Within 3-5 days you should have enough bubbly starter to make all kinds of sourdough recipes. Join the sourdough craze. And bonus, we sell the same flour we use to feed our own 17 year old starter at the bakery!

Saturday Special

It’s Donut Saturday!

Get your orders in! Or come early on Saturday. Donuts this week are: Glazed, Key Lime Glazed (with fresh key limes!), And Dubai Chocolate Donuts. We have vegan donuts of the same flavors, except for Dubai Chocolate, which has egg in the “filo” dough inside. So we have Cinnamon Sugar as a substitute for the fourth vegan donut. We think you will find our GF donuts to be some of the best GF donuts you’ve ever had.

My other favorite thing is our BAGEL SANDWICHES. I eat one EVERY SAT. Jala is a master at developing awesome sandwich flavors. Come on in. And have a bagel sandwich while you are at it. We have a monthly rooster of rotating sandwich flavors, Dairy, DF and vegan!

Weekly Bread

This week it is Sourdough (Vegan) and Oat Bread (DF). Did you know our  Sourdough Starter is  17 years old? The older the starter the better the flavor. And the more moist the bread.  We will be selling freeze dried starter for those of you who want to learn how to use sourdough (in everything if you believe the posts on Instagram.)  Of course, if you come to our class in France, you will learn how to make both!

Get 3% Off When You Pay in Cash!

It’s great to see so many people paying in cash. While 3% doesn’t sound like a lot of savings, every little bit helps, right? And best of all, you are doing your personal bit to keep money in our collective communities hands, rather than to a billionaire credit card processor.

Gluten Free Baking Class in France.

What are you waiting for? We have a couple more spots. Airfare has fallen to the $700-800 range. Plus to be honest, i’m not holding this class again, despite many people asking if i will. I plan to retire and move on to different adventures by Jan 2027, and a trip like this takes 10 months of planning. And as we’ve seen, so many things can happen in 10 months, including crashing our economy, which makes all my expenses in France higher! So if you want to participate in this unique and once in a life time experience, sign up now. You won’t regret it. But you will regret missing out.

The village is perched on the top of a 7 km hill, with view of Pic Saint-Loup. Pic Saint-Loup is a prominent wine producing area, known for high quality red and rose wines that are known for their complexity and elegance. We will go wine tasting in Pic Saint Loup on Thursday afternoon.

You’ll have plenty of time to socialize, hike or work on specific recipes you want to perfect before class each day.

The catered meals are made fresh from locally grown and sourced food. We can accommodate all allergies, meat eaters, dairy eaters, non-dairy eaters and vegans.

Airport is Montpellier (MPL). But Barcelona (BCN) and Marseille (MRS) are options as well, with easy train or bus travel to Montpellier.

Pot Pies!

Pot Pies are available Christmas to Easter.  And Easter is come and gone, so we are fazing out Pot Pies. Stock up now if you love them.  They come frozen ready to bake.  We have Small (personal) or Medium   (man size or for 2 lighter eaters). They come in Chicken and Veg, Veg and Vegan. All are DF. The difference between Veg and Vegan is the egg in the crust. All chicken is organic free range, and a combo of thigh and breast meat. The veggies, broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas, possibly corn, yellow potatoes and sweet potatoes, are all organic.
