What’s Baking, Week of Dec 30th (Donut, Hanukkah and Christmas Menus posted!)

Hope everyone had a peaceful Thanksgiving. When Thanksgiving falls at the end of November, like this year, we don’t get to catch our breath before Hanukkah and Christmas Celebrations are upon us, so those menus have been posted.

We have new frosting flavors this coming week, and it is DONUT week. I’ve also posted the BAGEL menu as bagels are the week after.

We  all loved the Strawberry Jam I made for donuts this coming week, so we decided to make 4 jams to sell in December. Blackberry-Blueberry, Strawberry-Basil, Cherry-Rhubarb and French Fig (contains walnuts). They are low sugar jams, bursting with true fruit flavor, instead of mainly the sweetness of sugar. You can buy them individually or in a 3 pack gift pack that will be packaged in a gauze bag. We will also be making Chocolate Truffle gift packs that are vegan. Last year when I went on the hunt locally for DF fine chocolates for Christmas gifts, I had a hard time finding any. So even though there are plenty of expert Chocolatiers in the area that you should frequent, we are making these for those of us who can’t stomach dairy but want to give a sweet chocolate treat to our friends, family, or ourselves! We will have those posted by the end of next week. We are thinking of these 4 flavors: Sea Salt, Spicy Chocolate, Chocolate Raspberry and Chocolate Caramel. All made with organic 70% dark chocolate.

We are rethinking our packaging and would love customer ideas of how to make our bakery even more environmentally friendly. I was appalled to learn last week that the window boxes we use are made with PET which is a huge contributor to plastic nano particles that are destroying our oceans and polluting our soil. We use these not only to display our goods, but because they are easy pop up boxes that don’t need to be assembled. Sadly, they don’t make pop up boxes without the PET window plastic, but rest assured I wrote the main conglomerate who makes these last week (yes in the middle of our Thanksgiving rush) to ask that they consider making without the PET window. In the meantime, we will go back to the laborious fold up boxes, which means packing orders will take a bit more time. Please have patience.  We would love to have feedback on alternative packaging methods that are not harmful to the environment. We also haven’t been able to figure out an alternative to those pesky plastic bags we put bread in. My New Year’s resolution is to have 100% eco friendly packaging in 2022, but i haven’t figured out how yet. So your creative thoughts are welcome!

Bread this week is Challah (DF) (Loaves and Rolls) and English Muffins (Vegan)(3 pk)

Tea Bread is Mixed Berry, plain or with nuts. This is the last month of Pumpkin Muffins, so if you love them, stock up!

Saturday Special is Donuts! Jam filled, Glazed and Chocolate Glazed. Vegan are by PREORDER ONLY.
