Two more weeks until Daylight Savings! Is it me, or does it get earlier each year? I personally can’t wait until we go to one time all year round, preferably Daylight Savings time. We will continue to close at 6 on weekdays, until March 23rd, when sunset is at 7. That will be our return to a 7 closing.
It’s Donut Day next Sat and we have two yummy new donuts we trialed last week. A Triple Chocolate Beignet (filed with chocolate ganache) and an Old Fashion cake donut. Our third donut is a Cherry Glazed. All our donuts are DF and we have vegan versions by preorder only.
I did trial chocolate croissants last week, and i am getting closer to a good version. I will try again on Tuesday — i have some ideas of how to modify yet again. . . 
We will be posting our Easter/Passover menu next weekend. If there is something you are hankering for, you need to tell us NOW, particularly if it is something we don’t normally make. Trialing takes time!
We have a new seasonal pizza! Smoked Gouda and Mozzarella with mushrooms, spinach, caramelized onions and white sauce. The Vegan version has our house made smoked almond cheese. This was a customer favorite last year!
The Bread this week is Sourdough (vegan) and TEFF (DF).
Tea Bread (DF) is Cherry with chocolate or with pecans. Muffins (DF) are Pumpkin, plain or with chocolate chips , Mixed Berry, plain or with walnuts, or Blackberry with crystalized ginger or pecans.
Soup: We are almost out of Butternut Squash or Cream of Spinach! Next up, we will circle back to Cream of Broccoli and i will trial African Carrot-Peanut soup. I’ve had it before and loved it. But i want to make sure i can reproduce a tasty version before putting it on the menu. .If you have a favorite soup you want us to make, email us at info@violettegf.com with your suggestions.
