Wow, what a beautiful day. I just finished a 28-30 hour work marathon over the last 48 hours so i’m feeling like the day is miraculous! I’m off (sort of) and the weather is fantastic. Lucky, lucky me. Emily injured her knee this week so we are down yet another person, hence the crazy hours. We’ve taken a zero risk policy about hiring (only wanting to hire people we knew) but we are at the stage if we don’t bring in new people we can’t operate. A new Emily (yes, we have 3 Emily/Emi out of a staff of 5!) will be starting on Tuesday to help us in the shop. She has been working (volunteering) for us at home, and many of you, unbeknownst to you, have been interacting with her via email, as she has been doing our orders and invoices for us. So you may see her at the bakery a few days a week starting this week while on hiatus from her professional work. Maybe she will love us so much she will stay. Be extra nice to her okay? (Lol) We are also interviewing via FaceTime and in person/outside/6′ distancing Lol. We need more staff (if interested, send us your resume at info@violettegf.com). I am a bit anxious because I personally think MA is opening back up too early, given high daily new cases and high daily deaths, but we will see how things shake out over the next month. Please remember, we can’t wait on you at the window, or even bring your order to your car if you don’t have a mask on your face (rather than around your neck or on your head). Safety first! Thanks.
Other news is we are working with an app developer (in my spare time!) to get a better online ordering system up and running. Have patience please. Our current ordering system wasn’t intended for the current pandemic situation, but we ARE working on a new system that is easier for both the customer and us!
We’ve now offered THREE versions of strawberry shortcake. Which was your favorite? This week we will have the biscuit type of strawberry shortcake available again Thurs-Sat. (We need time for our organic strawberries to get delivered!)
The Saturday Special this week is Cinnamon buns, plain or with house roasted maple pecans.
Tea bread is Blueberry-lemon, plain or with walnuts. Muffins are Lemon Poppy.
Pie is either Strawberry Rhubarb, or Mixed Berry (my personal fav, and the pie I always have as my Birthday Pie.) We are winding down on Pot Pies. We will make one more big batch and then its a wrap on Pot Pies until Christmas. So stock up, if like me, you love them. (The vegan is my favorite!)
We will also have a new pizza starting in June. A pesto based pizza. More news on that next week, but if you love our current Aparagus, caramelized onion, mushroom, white pizza, stock up!
Bread is Sourdough with olives or Challah (loaves and rolls) Available Weds-Sat. Bread can be preordered at least 24 hours in advance for Thurs-Sat, or you can come to the store and try your luck. We have Challah every Tuesday for walk in or pre-order.
Here is our grocery list for the week. We have organic Honey Crisp apples! Please remember, our suppliers don’t always bring our complete order, so have patience if we are out of stock.
Also, if you are hankering for some Asian take out food our next door neighbor, Chalawan, has a GF menu. I haven’t eaten there since they rebranded, but its the same owners and the staff and I have eaten from their old menu lots of times. They too, need a little LOVE these days. They have delivery and pick up and are literally, right next door.
