What’s Baking, week of Aug 5, 2013

You asked, we listened. This week we’ve made a vegan version of our blueberry crumb bar, as well as our “normal version” (with butter and eggs.) We are doing a test market to see how many gluten free vegans will come out to buy. So come on out all you GFVs! If we sell out of the vegan crumb bars we will start testing other recipes to see if they can be converted as well. GF is much harder to make vegan than wheat so we need your buying support if we are going to continue to develop vegan recipes, as some have requested!

Also this week, we have our chocolate chip cookies with and without nuts (and also a third version with both dark and white chocolate + nuts).

Going away for the week or weekend? Stop by a market first and stock up on our gluten free goodies! I’m always pleasantly surprised when i stop by one of our markets and randomly try something and think, wow, this is really good! That’s what i thought yesterday when  i tried our vanilla cupcakes with blueberry buttercream. I confess, i’m not a vanilla cake fan. And i tried for  long time to come up with a recipe i thought enjoyable to eat–and i have to say, ours is.  Tender, flavorful–need i say more? This cake is the base for our margarita cupcake! What’s Baking, week of June 23, 2013

With 100 degree weather expected this week, we’ve planned a melt free menu. No frosted cakes/cupcakes except by special order and not a lot of chocolate. But lots of new savories this week! We’ve also tried freezing some of our cookies and they are delicious frozen (like the triple chocolate brownie cookie) and also cake pops which taste like ice cream pops. So we will have some frozen cookies (they don’t really freeze, they are just super cold and firm) and frozen cake pops at the markets!  Perfect for a hot day!
