We live in such crazy times at the moment, and everyone is being tested, and forced to self reflect and grow–whether we like it or not. So that is the silver lining of these times. Some people will grow in the wrong direction and we can’t help that, all we can do is monitor our own thoughts and emotions, listen when things come up that had been previously under the surface, and ask ourselves how this has affected our beliefs and actions in the past. Can we change with our new knowledge? It’s easy to watch the news and think, wow, that violence over there is crazy, but in reality, we are ALL a little or a lot racist, sexist, classist, ageist, etc. And it only takes one match to make things go up in flames. It’s all about fear of others who are different from us racially, culturally, socially, age-wise, looks-wise and so on, and then of course, oppression by those who have the most power. The best thing each of us can do is take personal responsibility for ourselves, our thoughts, our beliefs, our actions or inactions, and ask ourselves, where and how do i need to change my thoughts/beliefs/behavior? Covid-19 is a really good metaphor for how an entire system can go haywire when part of a system is out of balance.
On a practical note, please remember, we can’t wait on you at the window, or even bring your order to your car if you don’t have a mask on your face (rather than around your neck or on your head). Safety first! Thanks.
For those of you who find our ordering system bothersome, we are working on getting a better system! There aren’t many apps out there for preordering for food businesses. But i promise you, this is a priority for me, despite my insanely busy schedule!
The Saturday Special is donuts. Saturday only we will have Chocolate Glazed, Strawberry Glazed and Cinnamon Sugar. We always make some extra for the store, but they go fast as walk up items, so best to preorder or come before noon for donuts.
Tea bread (DF) is Strawberry (always organic) with walnuts or chocolate chips. Muffins are Lemon Poppy or Blueberry-Lemon, plain or with walnuts.
Pie is Mixed Berry with Crumb top or crust top. In terms of Pot Pies, what we have in stock now is all we will have until Christmas. So stock up if you love these. Coming shortly is our Zucchini Lemon Ricotta tart — a summer favorite. We will also have a new pizza this week or next. Arugula-Basil Pesto with balsamic poached pears, caramelized onions and goat cheese. Also a summer favorite!
Bread is English Muffins and Teff bread (loaves and rolls) Available Weds-Sat. Bread can be preordered at least 24 hours in advance for Weds-Sat, or you can come to the store and try your luck. We have Challah every Tuesday for walk in or pre-order.
We will update our grocery list AFTER we get delivery.Too often items are missing. But for sure we’ve been getting Olivia greens every week. We are still waiting for our organic Honey Crisp apples! Please remember, our suppliers don’t always bring our complete order, so have patience if we are out of stock.
Also, if you are hankering for some Asian take out food our next door neighbor, Chalawan, has a GF menu. I haven’t eaten there since they rebranded, but its the same owners and the staff and I have eaten from their old menu lots of times. They too, need a little LOVE these days. They have delivery and pick up and are literally, right next door.
