❀️ WHERE ARE YOU? ❀️

Small businesses are dropping like flies. And if you don’t want us to be fly-swatted by this economy, we need you to show up.

This week, we had days when our store sales were around $600. That doesn’t even cover payrollβ€”never mind the ingredients that go into making all this fabulous food, utilities, consumables, and $8,500 a month in rent.

We simply can’t continue with sales at that level. And neither can the other small businesses you love.

The economy is bad. We know that. But if you want there to be stores other than banks and box stores left when this disaster is over, you need to show up for us and for the other small businesses you want to survive.

We, like so many others, are right on the edge.

Our landlord won’t renegotiate the annual rent increase, so next month our rent goes up to $8,500 a month. That’s $102 per square foot, when the average in the Porter Square area is more like $40–$50.

So we’re looking to see if there’s a plug-and-play spaceβ€”no buildout requiredβ€”that we could move into for substantially less.

If you know of anything that’s at least 1,000 square feet with storage space, or larger without, in the $5,000-a-month range, please let us know.

πŸ₯¨ SATURDAY SPECIAL: SOFT PRETZELS πŸ₯¨

And speaking of reasons to show up…

This Saturday’s special is Soft Pretzels!

πŸ₯¨ Salted
πŸ§€ Cheddar

πŸ₯– THIS WEEK’S BREAD πŸ₯–

We’ll have both our sourdough and challah this week.

πŸ₯– Sourdough β€” Vegan
🍞 Challah β€” Dairy-Free

πŸ“ GOODBYE SUMMER. HELLO PUMPKIN! πŸŽƒ

We’ve ended our Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry Sponge Cake and Fresh Fruit Tarts for the season.

After Labor Day, the fall goodies begin!

πŸŽƒ Pumpkin Bread
πŸŽƒ Pumpkin Bundtlettes
πŸ‚ Fall-inspired frosting flavors

πŸ₯ͺ SATURDAY BREAKFAST + LUNCH ARE COMING BACK! πŸ₯ͺ

After Labor Day, we hope to get back to our robust Saturday breakfast and lunch sandwich business.

We have a fantastic sandwich maker on staff lined up and ready to go. People at the farmers markets love our grab-and-go sandwiches, and so do our customers at the store.

But we can’t take on the payroll costs if people don’t come for our crazy delicious offerings.

And reallyβ€”where else can you go in the Boston metro area for a safe, fun and delicious Saturday morning experience?

People were going crazy over our cinnamon rolls today. They flew off the shelves.

Leesteffy has worked hard to get all of our products back to their A+ standard with the new kitchen crew. The food is beautiful again. Come eat it!

🌻 COPLEY + ROSLINDALE THIS WEEK! 🌻

We’ll be at both the Copley Square and Roslindale Farmers Markets this week.

We really loved meeting all the new and old customers at Roslindale. Several people told us:

β€œWe love you. We just have a hard time making it over the river.”

We can relate. πŸ˜‚

So we’ll keep bringing Violette to you!

🌻 WE’RE HIRING 🌻

We’re still looking for one Front of House staff member.

The shift is approximately 1:00–6:30 p.m., and we’re looking for someone who can work at least two days per week, including either Friday or Saturday.

If you’re friendly, reliable and think you’d enjoy working at Violette, we’d love to hear from you.

Send your resume to info@violettegf.com with a brief note explaining why you would be a good fit for the position.

See you this week! πŸ’›
