Wow, time flies when you are stuck in a pandemic. It’s already the end of April. Yes, I know that Time seems surreal right now, but please remember, if you want to eat, you must plan ahead. I’m hearing that grocery store delivery is 10 days out and lots of times they have no show, even then. Like grocery stores, we don’t accept same day PRE-ORDERS OR DELIVERY. In fact, we are so short staffed that we need ALL pre-orders to be in by noon the preceding day, just like we do for bread. We can’t make any exceptions, sorry. But the good news is that you don’t have to pre-order. You can always come to the window and buy most things on our menu from there. ☺️

We messed up several orders today because our printer ran out of paper and when it resumed it didn’t print one page of orders. Most people whose orders we messed up were disappointed, but kind. But  there is always someone who feels entitled, and doesn’t care we are in a Pandemic. Most of our customers have been exceedingly kind to the staff, tipping them well and thanking them.  My staff likes to please, and when we screw up,  we always try to make it up to our customers.  We don’t want people to go away unhappy. But food service staff, whether at a grocery store or a bakery like ours, are under a lot of stress right now. Not only are they dealing with all the fear and uncertainty we all are, they are working with the public and fearful of that. If you talk down to my staff, or say things like I don’t care if you are short staffed, I paid and I want, when we’ve told you there is nothing we can do to give you your original order, you are going to get an earful from me. People working in the food industry are all very aware that people who are collecting unemployment at home are, in many cases, making more money than people working. It doesn’t take that much to tip someone from yes I’ll work to nope, not any more. If food service people quit, we all don’t eat. We can’t run our bakery with one less person. You wait 10 days for delivery from a grocery store because there isn’t enough staff.  Please remember that. Check your disappointment–express it elsewhere — at home, with your friends, but not at the grocery store or our bakery.  We are trying the best we can to provide high quality food, and it’s not easy. Don’t put extra stress on my staff.  And again, most of our customers are super wonderful and supportive, but it only takes one jerk to push someone over the edge right now.

Here is a small list of grocery items you can buy from us. We will be adding (hopefully) Rhubarb, Apples, Oranges or Mandrins and possibly lemons. We have to wait to order on Monday to make sure they have in stock before adding to our grocery list. We will update this list then. Please remember, grocery items don’t count toward delivery minimums. Thanks.

The bread this week is Teff  and English Muffins. Available  Weds-Sat. Bread can be preordered at least 24 hours in advance for Weds-Sat, or you can come to the store and try your luck. We have Challah every Tuesday for walk in or pre-order.

Tea Bread is Cranberry-Orange, Plain or with Pecans (DF). Muffins are the ever popular Banana Peanut Butter, plain or with Chocolate Chips.

Sat Special is Sweet or Savory Brioche (DF available).  We are adding eclairs to the menu this week.

Note, we have three customer parking spaces marked behind building right next to alley with BIG orange signs. You can’t miss them.
